Most of these diets make you feel bad because you are not eating enough. Just like that. They don’t get you in better shape. Perhaps you will lose some weight, but it’s mostly water weight and muscle loss, so you’re actually weaker than before, and your body composition is not better either. Some of these diets leave you feeling fatigued, nauseous and with brain fog as a result of doing it.

This Is Your Body On A Cleanse
The terms “cleanse” and “detox” are used as synonyms. The most popular programs are centered on juices or smoothies with little or no solid food, or on eliminating a wide range of supposedly toxic food. Which includes: dairy, gluten containing grains, coffee, alcohol, and red meat. Sometimes vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant are eliminated on some of these programs because they are said to cause inflammation.
These plans essentially starve the body of the fuel it needs; dropping blood sugar, which the body attempts to correct by releasing a reserve of glucose from the muscles.
But prolonged starvation can lead to hypoglycemia (potentially dangerous low blood sugar) and can cause anxiety, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, and confusion. Caffeine withdrawal can make the symptoms compound and you may also have headaches and nausea. Detox and cleanse programs makers blame these symptoms on the toxins being eliminated from the body.

If you have a history of eating disorders, detoxes can be a trigger for relapse. A restrictive diet like a cleanse or detox can be the spark that sets off an eating disorder.
They can also be risky for people with diabetes, heart problems, kidney disorders or women who are pregnant or nursing.

What is the best advice we can give you? Follow sensible nutrition guidelines (most of the time): eat plenty of plant-based foods, lean protein; honor your fullness and hunger cues (have snacks in addition to three meals a day, and don’t overeat). Try cooking more at home. And ditch the diet mentality. Develop a healthy philosophy around food and eating instead of a diet that sets you up to fail. This can lead to a lowerBMI.
