Sometimes vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant are eliminated on some of these programs because they are said to cause inflammation.

The gastrointestinal tracts work better when it’s used, that why diets without enough calories or solid food can slow down your digestion and cause constipation. Colon cleansing has no proven benefits and may cause serious complications.

There isn’t scientific evident to support detox. (Please, don’t confuse this type of detox with drug and alcohol detox programs, or poisoning detoxification, both of which are supported by research).

If you have a history of eating disorders, detoxes can be a trigger for relapse. A restrictive diet like a cleanse or detox can be the spark that sets off an eating disorder.
